Citel Technologies has launched a VoIP business phone that can be much quicker to set up than many other IP phones. It does this by connecting to open source Asterisk IP exchanges using the Inter-Asterisk protocol (IAX2), which busts through the firewall border issues that many VoIP users will be familiar with. The Citel IP Phone 4110 can also connect to most Voice over Internet services using SIP. The phone has received good reviews for its high build quality and styling.
The other borders it is breaking through are into Europe, with new customers as far spread as Ireland, Belgium and Kosovo.
